Bill Pay Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is eligible to use Bill Pay and how much does it cost?
A: Any member with an AlliedFCU checking account can use our Bill Pay service for FREE! Members can enroll in Bill Pay immediately after opening their account. There is no waiting period.
Q: Can members set up Bill Pay on their own, or does the credit union have to enroll them?
A: Bill Pay is self-enrolling, meaning no involvement is required from the Credit Union. The service is available for members to use on their very first login to online banking. When enrolling in Bill Pay, members are asked to set up additional authentication information and agree to terms and conditions to ensure that even if their online banking credentials are compromised, their bill pay details will be under an extra layer of security.
Q: Can members choose whether to send payments electronically or by check?
A: No. The processor determines if the payment goes out by check or electronically. This is indicated on each payee’s information after they have been added to the system. On the Payments tab in Bill Pay, under the payee’s name, there is a blue bubble that says Check or Electronic.
If sent by check, the check is mailed to the payee the following business day, just as if you were paying the bill with a check from your account. The check will clear your account once processed by the payee.
If sent electronically, funds are sent on the date scheduled by the member. Payments cannot be stopped or canceled once they have been sent, but you can change the bill pay date as often as needed before payments are sent. Once payment is sent, the funds are debited from your account.
Q: How do I set up a Payee and Payments
A: Follow these instructions, which include screenshots.
Q: Can a joint owner access the Bill Pay on the account?
A: Yes they can! The joint owner will need to answer the same security questions set up by the primary owner when necessary, but they have the same access to add payees or payments for the account.
Q: Are there any caps on bill pay transactions?
A: Yes. For security reasons, we have a cap on the following:
Dollar amount allowed per transaction
Dollar amount of transfers, per item, per day
Dollar amount for paying individuals
All of these caps are well above the transactions most members make on a regular basis.
Q: If I have trouble with Bill Pay, who do I contact for help?
A: Call AlliedFCU at (817) 856-4444.
